Organizations & Activities of the Parish
Getting involved in parish organizations and the various activities of the parish is a wonderful way to grow in faith, build meaningful friendships, and share your gifts in service to the Church. We invite you to explore our parish organizations and become an active part of our faith community as we work together to serve Christ and one another.
Latchkey
Latchkey provides a safe, welcoming place for children after school, offering opportunities for fellowship and recreation while parents and guardians are at work.
Latchkey at St. Michael’s is for kids in grades K-5 and runs from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria. Contact Jess Recker at ccd@stmichaelskalida.org for more information on working in Latchkey or enrolling your child(ren) in Latchkey.
Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society meets on the 3rd Monday of every month at 8:00 P.M. in the basement of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. All men of St. Michael’s, upon graduation of high school, are members of the Society. We maintain the baseball diamonds, including bleachers, benches, chalk-line, fence, lime, fertilizer, equipment (bases, balls, helmets, bats, catcher equipment, league fees, umpire fees, etc.) We sponsor: Boys and Girls CYO basketball teams, and all girls and boys Little League baseball teams from Pony League down.
We also donate money to the church and other organizations in the area.
Knights of Columbus — Council 5669
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal organization dedicated to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. Our local council provides men of the parish with opportunities to grow in their faith, serve those in need, support parish life, and build lasting friendships with fellow Catholic men. Through charitable works, volunteer service, family activities, and spiritual formation, the Knights play an active role in strengthening both our parish and the wider community. Catholic men who are interested in serving Christ through faith-filled fellowship are warmly invited to learn more and consider joining the council.
The Fr. Michael Meuhe Council 5669 meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month at 8:15 P.M. at the Kalida K of C Hall.
Bereavement Group & Helping Hands
The Bereavement Group helps those in the parish after the death of a loved one. Members of the Group comfort grieving families and assist them in planning the funeral.
Helping Hands volunteers work with the Bereavement Group to serve at funeral luncheons. Our team of bakers are willing to help make desserts to go with your meal.
Sisterhood of Saints
The Sisterhood of Saints is for young ladies in grades 5-8, led by adults and high school team leaders, where the girls explore their faith, deepen friendships and serve their parish and community in an atmosphere of Christian charity. In addition to learning more about this personal relationship with Christ, the girls spread that love to others through apostolic projects. They generally meet on Fridays, after school, in the church basement.
Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain is a group of approximately 100 parishioners who are committed to praying for those in need. When someone calls, texts or emails, we immediately pass the prayer intentions to the group.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a fun and faith-filled opportunity for children to grow in their love of Jesus while building friendships and lasting memories. Through engaging Bible stories, music, games, crafts, prayer, and hands-on activities, children discover the beauty of the Catholic faith in an exciting and welcoming environment.
Whether your child is just beginning to learn about God or is already active in parish life, Vacation Bible School offers a joyful week of learning, laughter, and faith that encourages them to know, love, and follow Christ more closely.
Vacation Bible School is held in July every year. We are always looking for adult volunteers!
Right to Life
The Putnam County Right to Life group meets on the first Tuesday of the month, at 7:30 p.m., in the basement of St. Michael Catholic Church. Their meetings are always open to the public.
