Prayer and Worship
Family prayer and worship are central to building a strong Catholic family. Keep in mind that the goal of individual, family or communal prayer and faith sharing is to make the “God connection.” When we share faith with others, we are trying to answer the questions: “Where is God in all of this?” and “What is God saying to me today?” Pray on your own. It is very difficult to pray out loud, even with family members, if you do not take time to develop your own pray life. Take a few minutes during the day or evening to turn off all outside “voices” and to turn on your connection with God. Find a quiet, uninterrupted space to read Scripture, and share with God your concerns, hopes and fear. Be silent and open to God’s reply. If it is helpful, use a journal to write about your reflection during prayer.

Ideas to Build Your Domestic Church - YOUR FAMILY!
Build a prayer space – Creating a space that is set aside for prayer in your home will improve the prayer life of your family. Prayer spaces can be as simple or elaborate as you want. Work with your family to choose a space, erect holy images or statues, add some candles and dedicate it strictly for prayer. Once you have created your prayer space, set aside some time for daily prayer together. Bring Prayer to your Backyard – Especially during the current quarantine, being inside for too long can get dreary. Purchase a statue of Jesus, Mary or a saint who is important to your family. Then create a garden or special location in your yard to place the statue. Once its finished, schedule a time to pray together as a family, invoking the blessing of your family’s patron. |
